Slavyanka tram

Concession project to build and operate a tram line along the route "Kupchino metro station - Shushary - Slavyanka"

About the project

The project to build and operate a tram line along the route "Kupchino metro station - Shushary - Slavyanka" is one of the largest in Russia for the development of new urban public light rail infrastructure, implemented as part of a public-private partnership.

The concession agreement between Government of St. Petersburg and BaltNedvizhServis LLC was signed in 2019 and is for 30 years (until 2049).

The new transport connection will help avoid the line's intersection with existing major highways, reducing congestion on the road network and avoiding traffic jams during rush hour. Moreover, the fare will be no higher than that of a regular city tram.

On December 24, 2025, the first stage of the Slavyanka tram line was officially launched, with regular tram service beginning from the Kupchino metro station to Valdayskaya Street in Shushary and in the opposite direction.

According to the terms of the concession agreement, the planned completion date for the second stage of work - to the Slavyanka microdistrict - is the end of 2026.

On June 19, 2025, at the SPIEF, the Government of St. Petersburg and ABZ-Dorstroy JSC signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation aimed at implementing a project to create and operate a tram line along the route: "Slavyanka - Tsarskoye Selo railway station - St. Petersburg State University Campus - Nevskaya Delta Scientific and Technical Center".
